    Penrith City Council is the largest local government child care service provider in NSW, with more than 25 child care facilities annually catering for 4000 children. Committed to providing Children's Services programs for the benefit of families and children across the City, we offer a variety of child care services including Long Day Care, Vacation and Out of School Hours Care, Preschools and a Mobile Playvan and are at the leading edge of implementing curriculum for the intellectual, social and physical development of the children within our care.

    Following a funding grant, Council is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Program Coordinator to develop, implement and coordinate a program focused on building a community of resilient engaged youth through a program that mentors and supports vulnerable children in OOSH service ages 5-12 years.

    You will be experienced in the development of similar programs aimed at youth and children, and will have mentored and worked directly with children to develop resilience and work on strengths and skills. You must also be experienced in addressing in the specific needs of children in vulnerable areas, supporting the needs of a team, and delivery of programs and projects.

    Essential Criteria

    • Tertiary qualification in social/ welfare work, youth, education or equivalent field
    • Experience in the development and delivering of programs aimed at Youth and children in the middle years (5-12) such as recreation, sports, development or wellbeing
    • Ability to work with young people, often with complex needs, in a safe and respectful way
    • Strong time management, organisational and record keeping skills,
    • Experience with managing challenging behaviours and knowledge of the issues facing young people in the community, including trauma, neglect and abuse
    • Experience developing strong referral pathways and working in partnership with agencies
    • Ability to work independently and in a leadership capacity
    • A current Class C drivers licence

    Desirable Criteria

    • Rock and water program knowledge and experience in facilitation
    • Knowledge of local area services

    This position has been identified as a Child-Related position under Child Protection laws in NSW. To be eligible to apply, you are required to provide Council with a valid Working with Children Check Number.

    Commencing Salary: $70,900 per annum, plus 9.5% superannuation
