    A position exist within Library Services Department for a Permanent part-time (17.5hrs pw) Library Assistant.

    The Penrith City Library Service provides informational, educational and recreational resources and services for residents and visitors through three branch libraries, community events and pop-up libraries, Children’s Services, e-Resources, Research Services (local history), Home Library service and Community Toy Library.

    You will contribute to an effective and efficient library service to the community of Penrith City Council by providing direct customer service in the service areas at Penrith Central Library, branch libraries and the outreach services, as rostered. Your task will include loans, returns, patron registrations, cash handling, explaining library policies to members of the public and participating in events and programs.


    Essential Criteria

    • Year 12 Higher School Certificate or equivalent
    • High level of interpersonal and customer service skills and experience
    • Demonstrated online database and digital app skills
    • Demonstrated skills using library equipment, including scanners, printers and photocopiers
    • Demonstrated cash handling skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a busy team environment
    • Flexibility to work rostered shifts across seven days, including evening and weekend hours
    • Current Class C Driver’s Licence


    • Experience working in a public library
    • Flexibility to cover emergency roster shifts.


    Commencing Salary: $48,701 pa - $55,835 pa , plus 9.5% superannuation (Pro-rata for Part-time)
