Council’s Community and Cultural Development department works closely with residents, community organisations and other levels of government to provide a range of programs and services, including social planning and research, advocacy, community and cultural development projects and various events, which support the growth of a cohesive and sustainable City, active and engaged communities and community wellbeing and pride

    We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated person to work with other team members in the Community and Cultural Development team to undertake a range of community development activities to improve access for people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities. The position provides support and advice to community organisations and service providers, supports local inter-agencies and forums and conducts or assists with research, consultation, events and community development projects.

    This part-time position is for 28 hours per week; however, flexibility regarding these hours may be considered for the right applicant. This position is available until June 2020. 

    Essential Criteria:

    • Tertiary Qualifications in the Social Sciences or equivalent
    • Demonstrated experience in community consultation and development theory and practice
    • Demonstrated experience in community program administration and evaluation
    • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and supporting community events
    • Demonstrated understanding of the issues of and services for the cultural and linguistically diverse communities
    • Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
    • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
    • Current Class C Driver’s Licence

    Desirable Criteria:

    • Use and analysis of demographic data
    • Experience in budget administration

    Commencing Salary: $42.07 per hour, plus 9.5% superannuation. Further salary progression is also available within Council’s Salary Administration System.
