About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised individual with great leadership, administrative and people skills to lead our Executive Services team in the position of Executive Officer on a temporary full-time basis (35 hours per week) for a period up to June 2024, due to an upcoming period of parental leave.
In this role, you will provide professional and confidential executive support, project management and strategic advice to Council’s General Manager and Mayor, and the broader Leadership Team as required. You will also lead the Executive Services team in providing professional and seamless executive and administrative support to the Leadership Team and Councillors, and coordinate and oversee the timely and accurate response to Councillor and stakeholder requests.
The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, politically savvy (though remaining apolitical) and an effective leader and communicator, adept at handling a variety of matters with tact, professionalism and confidentiality while establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Essential Criteria
Experience working within a government agency or political environment
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to act with a high degree of tact and diplomacy
Excellent time management and organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and anticipate potential problems/issues
Demonstrated ability to identify and respond to stakeholders’ underlying needs and find innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues
Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and develop team members
Commencing salary: From $127,509.00 per annum, plus 10.5% Superannuation.
Access to a Motor Vehicle Allowance is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
This position requires the worker to be double vaccinated against COVID-19 or to hold a medical contraindication certificate.
