About the role
This position works with the Head of Communications to lead the Digital and Graphic Design team at Penrith City Council.
The position ensures delivery of high-quality creative design, digital platforms and content to promote Council’s activities.
Essential criteria
- A tertiary qualification in Communications, Media, Marketing or a related discipline and extensive industry experience.
- Demonstrated successful experience leading a diverse range of professional, creative staff including team scheduling and ensuring high quality creative output.
- Demonstrated experience in the management of complex and diverse communication projects ensuring deadlines were met and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships and ability to positively influence stakeholders internally and externally.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and development of websites for large organisations and an understanding in how to apply Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA.
- Demonstrated ability to project manage the creative design process from brief to completion, and correct usage of brand guidelines.
- An understanding of emerging technologies and their role in communicating to a diverse range of community members and stakeholders.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of EEO, WHS and Corporate Governance requirements.
- Knowledge of Project Management applications and techniques.
- Excellent knowledge of design software packages, especially the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Previous experience working in Local Government.
- A current class C drivers’ licence and own reliable transport.
Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $125,617.00 - $145,407.00.p.a, plus 11.5% Superannuation, and will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, in order to progress through the recruitment process.

The department consists of a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated specialists that support the organisation's communications, digital, design and corporate and civic events needs.
