Our workforce consists of approximately 1,500 permanent, temporary and casual staff working in a range of roles including construction and maintenance, recreation, children’s services, legal and governance, engineering, finance, planning and IT.
As a member of the People and Culture Department, the WHS team is tasked with implementing Council’s WHS Management System, strategy and culture, including leading and working on exciting WHS related projects.
Being a member of the Work Health & Safety (WHS) Team, you will have outstanding thinking skills, balanced with an ability to deliver innovative solutions for the business. This role will have influence and responsibility for providing accurate and timely advice to stakeholders and management. You will be the kind of WHS professional that is driven to find real solutions that make sense, that matter and will make a difference to the safety and wellbeing of our staff.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to complement existing services offered, and to support our Council Safe, Home Safe, Towards Zero program. We are looking for those who can partner with the business, implement change, and embed best practice.
You will be responsible for supporting Council departments in the development and implementation of Council’s safety audits and risk assessments as well as the identifying non-conformances, including recommendations and solution options. You will also be responsible for leading serious incident investigations and working with stakeholders and senior management to implement corrective actions.
- Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or relevant field
- Extensive knowledge and application of WHS principles and practices
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in conflict resolution and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Thorough knowledge of WHS legislation
- Current Class C Driver’s License

Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $107,058.00 - $123,9240.00 per annum, plus 12% Superannuation.
