As part of the Waste and Resource Recovery team you will work with a team of dedicated, innovative and award winning professionals who provide waste and recycling services, waste planning and promote waste avoidance and resource recovery within our City.
About the role
This position is responsible for the procurement, implementation and management of waste and resource recovery related services and contracts to ensure that all Council managed waste and resource recovery services, other than domestic, are provided in accordance with regulatory requirements. This position will provide leadership and project management services across Council’s Civic, Public Space and Commercial Waste and Resource Recovery streams. The position will also look to identify opportunity for productivity gain through integration of services with the Domestic Waste sector where viable. The position requires a commitment to flexibility and multi-skilling across and within the Public Spaces Maintenance area and Waste and Resource Recovery Services. This position will look to positively influence waste policy and practice, resource recovery strategy and related services provided to the community.
Essential criteria
- A tertiary qualification, preferably a degree, in Environmental Management, Science, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in directly managing procurement processes related to contract services and consultancy contracts and experience in contracts management and contracts administration
- Demonstrated skills and experience in managing budgets
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation and implementation of of technical briefs, policy, strategy, contract specifications and WHS documentation
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage sound management practices and business systems/ applications within areas of responsibility
- Current Class C driver licence
Desirable criteria
- Waste and resource recovery management experience in Local Government
- Experience in assessment of Development Applications in relation to waste management
Commencing salary: $129,386.00 per annum, plus 12% Superannuation.
Access to a Leaseback Vehicle is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, in order to progress through the recruitment process.
