About the role
The primary purpose of this position is to connect Penrith residents, staff and other key stakeholders to Council’s key corporate messages, services, and products in a meaningful way. The role is expected to use strategic communications to facilitate understanding and engagement on and about Council’s programs, projects, and services.
Essential criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Communications or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience building positive perceptions for an organisation through the development and implementation of strategic communications
- Demonstrated experience producing content suited to a range of formats and diverse audiences, including online and print formats
- Demonstrated experience delivering and evaluating a major communications plan
- Demonstrate the use of emerging technologies and their implementation in communication outcomes
- Successful time management skills especially in relation to meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working in Local Government
- Experience working in the media or in a similar role
- Current Class C driver licence
Salary: $92,765.00 - $107,380.00 + 12% superannuation
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, in order to progress through the recruitment process.

The department consists of a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated specialists that support the organisation's communications, digital, design and corporate and civic events needs. Collectively we deliver strategic communications campaigns, visual and online communications, media management, and corporate events - including civic, ceremonial and organisational events.
