The opportunity: Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Asset Services is required to provide direction and management to consistently deliver high-quality services related to strategic asset management, asset maintenance and asset assurance for the Council.
The role will also require you to:
Strategically and effectively execute the ongoing management of council assets through overseeing civil works and projects in line with Council’s overall goals
Lead the delivery of high-quality public space maintenance, ensuring the upkeep and presentation of assets
Lead and direct delivery of civil projects, ensuring successful completion within scope, budget, and timeline
Provide expert input into the development of short, medium, and long-term asset funding strategies
Effectively contribute as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing advice and managing issues with an understanding of social, political, and economic context
Determine and report on financial implications of policy and procedure development, progress of assigned service activities, projects, actions and budgets within required timeframes
Liaise with the Council, local community, government, and non-government stakeholders to ensure an effective service is provided
Proactively support a positive operational environment, capable of keeping up with rapid growth
Selection criteria:
Tertiary qualification in a discipline relevant to the functions of the Directorate
Demonstrated experience in providing leadership and strategic direction to build a multi-disciplinary team that enables the delivery of strategic objectives for the organisation
Strong proven ability to work collaboratively as part of an executive team across a large and complex organisation, ensuring a ‘one team’ mindset to foster effective internal and external relationships at all levels to achieve outcomes
Demonstrated experience at a senior level providing strategic advice and support to the General Manager/Executive and Council
Capability to negotiate and resolve issues with people at all levels and the ability to persuade and influence at a strategic and operational level
Extensive experience in local government, the public sector, or a large, diverse organisation
A NSW Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.
