About the role
The Penrith City Library Service provides an array of informational, educational and recreational resources and services for residents and visitors through three branch libraries, a home library service, community events and pop-up libraries, children’s and adult programming, physical and digital collections, local history collections and programs, and a toy library service. Resident surveys consistently show Penrith City Council libraries to be one of the City’s most popular services.
To contribute to the delivery of a high quality, efficient, and customer focused library service for the community by providing outstanding support across all library branches as rostered. This role encompasses the supervision and management of the Home Library Service for eligible residents, along with the planning, implementation, and promotion of engaging library programs and events both within library facilities and at external venues. It also involves fostering and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders to deliver inclusive and meaningful programs tailored to adult audiences. Additionally, the role supports the development and ongoing review of policies and procedures related to Home Library Services and adult programming across all branches.
Essential criteria
- Relevant degree qualifications with eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association, or equivalent
- Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing a home library service or similar
- Experience in successfully sourcing, promoting and delivering a diverse range of library programs and workshops for adult audiences
- Strong project management and administrative skills with a proven ability to manage concurrent tasks and work to deadlines
- Strong supervisory skills and experience to lead a team with diverse responsibilities
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in using library systems, online databases, digital platforms and electronic resources
- Current Class C Driver Licence
Commencing salary: $92,765 per annum, plus 12% Superannuation
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, in order to progress through the recruitment process.
