Here’s what you’ll be up to…
The Digital Communications Officer plays an important role in delivering clear, accessible and engaging digital communications for the Penrith community.
You’ll help ensure residents, businesses and visitors can easily find the information they need about Council services, programs and initiatives across our website, social media channels and internal digital platforms.
Working closely with the Communications team and stakeholders across the organisation, you’ll contribute to digital campaigns, improve the user experience across Council’s online platforms and support ongoing digital improvements.
In this role you will:
- Maintain and publish content across Council’s website and digital channels
- Use CMS platforms such as Squiz and SharePoint to manage website content
- Ensure content meets WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and Council brand guidelines
- Support social media content planning and scheduling
- Monitor performance using analytics and reporting insights
- Contribute to the redevelopment and ongoing improvement of Council’s website and intranet
- Work with subject matter experts across Council to translate complex information into clear, user-friendly content
- Assist with website audits, content reviews and content migration activities
- Support digital communications campaigns and online engagement activities
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who enjoys improving digital experiences and making information easier for people to access and understand.
You will ideally have:
- Tertiary qualification in Digital Communications, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience delivering digital communications campaigns across web and social media platforms.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and improving website content within a Content Management System (CMS), including content editing, page structure and accessibility requirements.
- Demonstrated experience creating engaging digital content for a range of online platforms and audiences.
- Strong understanding of digital accessibility standards including WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
- Experience analysing digital performance using analytics tools and applying insights to improve outcomes.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in local government or large organisations, and knowledge of SEO, user experience (UX) or content design principles, will be highly regarded., will be highly regarded.
The must-know bits
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.
Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.
